My Uncle Ernest ("56") graduated out of Lane and started working for the Sante Fe Rail Road, he joined the US Air Force in 1958. Uncle Ern retired as a Major (O-4) in the summer of 1981. I took great pride in letting all my Lane school mates know of my Alumni Uncle who was a Navigator for SAC (Strategic Air Command) and became a Fighter Pilot (Delta Darts) during the Vietnam War. Uncle Ern retired to Rice Lake Wisconsin where he purchased a 100 acre property with farm house-he was happiest in the North Woods and knew from an early age he would live there someday.
My Uncle Ernest passed away 12-10-2010 at the age of 72, it was a beautiful ceremony with military honors. I'll miss my Uncle Ern, (on the far right in the picture) he had a good life/death. I am proud to have walked the same Lane halls as he. God Bless you Uncle Ern-RIP.
