| Favorite School Memory | I guess I have a few right now: 1. Teaming up with Jim Cedar in 1962 to restore and produce the annual school Variety Show, which, sadly, had been discontinued a few years earlier. We came up with the comedy bits and wrote the script together one sunny Saturday sitting at a picnic table in Como Park. R.I.P. Jim--you are not forgotten! 2. Singing and playing bass in the folk trio with Gary Gerlock and Helmar Daller in that show (we won first prize!). 3. Playing piano in the Music Festival with Joe Casimino and Dick Martzolf (jazz trio)--however, to my chagrin, I forgot to break for Joe's drum solo! 4. Hanging out in Como Park and at Robert's Restaurant on Friday and Saturday nights--with two groups of outlaws: one notably including Bob Merrilees, Gary Striegel, Bob Maute and his sweet girlfriend, Rose (Gary, Bob Maute and Rose went to St. Mary's). And of course the other included Doug Woolley, Gary Gerlock, Helmar Daller, Jim Cedar, David Flower, and very often, Janice Young. Among the very best moments for me back then were the spontaneous contemplations of the mysteries of life that happened between Doug Woolley and me--which, I am happy to say, have continued to this day . . . this is a rare friendship I've had with an extraordinary human being that has lasted for close to 60 years. 5.
