What is Mike Ohlman known for?

Mike Ohlman, born on December 14, 1990, in Bradenton, Florida, is a noteworthy American former professional baseball player. He is an alumni of Lakewood Ranch High School, based in his hometown. Ohlman primarily played the role of a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB). His MLB career, although brief, had its notable moments.

Ohlman's journey in professional baseball began when he was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 11th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. He played for several minor league teams, such as the Gulf Coast League Orioles, Delmarva Shorebirds, and Bluefield Orioles. Over his minor league career, his performance showed consistent improvement. For instance, he recorded a .313 batting average, 13 home runs, and 53 RBIs while playing for the Advanced-A Frederick Keys of the Carolina League.

However, Ohlman's career was not without its challenges. In 2012, he was involved in a serious car accident that resulted in a shoulder injury, consequently placing him on the disabled list. Additionally, he was suspended 50 games for violating the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program a second time.

In spite of these hurdles, he made his MLB debut on May 9, 2017, for the Toronto Blue Jays. His last MLB appearance occurred later that same year, in August. During this period, he achieved a respectable batting average of .231, with one run batted in. However, he did not hit any home runs during his tenure in the major league.

Before concluding his professional baseball journey, Ohlman was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals organization in 2015. He continued his career in the minor leagues, playing for Double-A Springfield Cardinals and showing strong performance with a .274 batting average, 12 home runs, and 69 RBIs in 103 games.
