About Me | DJ SAYEED: THE PEOPLE’S DEEJAY Anyone that copped a DJ Sayeed mixtape cd or witnessed him playing live on a Saturday night at Tropical Soul Café & Lounge can tell you that DJ Sayeed is more than a deejay; he’s an artist that remixes, remakes, engineers, chops and produces an audio tapestry of pure genius on the turntables. In others words, he gets busy! DJ Sayeed is no new jack. With 20 years under his belt since the young age of 11 years old Sayeed has paid dues and acquired the skillz on the wheels of steel as the dj/producer for Northwest legendary Hip Hop group Black Anger who set such a mark on the Seattle music scene, “Black Anger has cemented themselves as one of the best in Northwest Hip Hop.” Also the producer of S.E.L.F. 12” single released in 1998 by Bedroom Produksionz which is noted by many as “the best hip hop single produced out of the northwest.” The underground success of that single drew many local artists to contract DJ Sayeed to produce songs for other Seattle Hip Hop elite, the likes The Silent Lambs Project, Soulstice, Nomad the Nomadic, The Boom Bap Project, Redskin and Black Anger alumni E Real’s solo debut release, The Pacifier, as well as national recording artist El da Sensei formerly of New Jersey’s duo Artifacts. In 1997 Sayeed was also featured cutting and scratching on songs for the legendary indie punk maestro Calvin Johnson’s Dub Narcotic band hailing from Olympia, Washington K Records, the label that gave birth to Beck. Concert and special event promoters were always eager to hire DJ Sayeed to dj for national and legendary artists such as Big Daddy Kane, Seattle’s Brain Storm MC Battle preliminaries, The Red Bull Snow Board Competition in White Fish, Montana, Rakim at Toad’s Place now The Hat Factory (Richmond VA), Happily Natural Day (Richmond, VA) Soul Logistics one year anniversary show (Hopewell, VA) and many others. Lately DJ Sayeed along with his brother MC Bro Kindu, the former front man of Black Anger, have been focusing on making the underground Hip Hop radio broadcast of The Bum Rush Show, a global media staple for real Hip Hoppas world wide, which can be heard live Friday nights from 9 – 11pm on University of Richmond’s WDCE 90.1 fm since November 2009 and Saturday nights from 11 to 12 midnight on Virginia State University’s WVST 91.3 fm which has been running since 2005. People from as far as California log on line to listen in especially on Friday night which has inspired Sayeed to pushing to make Bum Rush Radio a syndicated program. So far The Bum Rush hosted live interview with NYC’s Capone N Noreaga, Indie Soul Grammy Nominee Eric Roberson and local recording artists Jarrod Anthony, Bonavil, Choke Arson, and Soul Logistics Doug Evans.
