Took my Petty Officer exam and passed and went to Charleston Naval Base. My rate was a Storekeeper , and learned how to drive forklifts and was stationed as support for the USS Canopus, a submarine tender ,which supplied the submarines. In 1983, I got out of active duty and went into the Naval Reserves as an E-5 and took my test for E-6 Petty Officer 1st Class Storekeeper. My duty station was COMINWARCOM which served to support the mineswepper fleet . I left the Reserves in 1987, due to having children and a husband who was also in the Navy as an officer who was on submarines. I loved the Navy and would recommend to anyone who doen't know what they want to do in life. It was a very good experience for me and I grew up and was on my own.
