About	Marvin Astor (Towny) Townsend, III Obituary Marvin Astor "Towny" Townsend, III, 54, of the 800 block of Woodrow Court, passed away April 4, 2007, in his home. A native of Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Rosemary and Marvin A. Townsend, Jr. He was the Dean of Students for Norfolk Public Schools. He was a member of the Kempsville Church of Christ. He was a recent recipient of O.D.U.'s Bud Methany Award and was honored by the Norfolk Sports Club with it's Lifetime Achievement Award, only the 4th award presented in 62 years. Towny is survived by his wife, Cathy Townsend; two sons, Sean Townsend and wife Emily and Chase Townsend, all of Chesapeake, VA; a sister, Beth Mills and husband Jeff of Chesapeake, VA; and two brothers, Charles Townsend and wife Marsha of Olean, NY and James Townsend and wife Julie of Virginia Beach, VA. He was a loving mentor to his many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at Kempsville Church of Christ. The burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of Towny Townsend, C/O Bank of Hampton Roads, 201 Volvo Pkwy., Chesapeake, VA 23320 or the The American Cancer Society.
