Stephen L. Clendenin

Class of 1995

Stephen L. Clendenin graduated from Lake Taylor High School in 1995. From there he attended Virginia Wesleyan College wherein he earned his Bachelor Degree in Music Performance. He also received his teaching certification from Old Dominion University. Stephen has played in numerous ensembles for the Hampton Roads area including the Virginia Wind Symphony, Tidewater Winds, and the Williamsburg Symphonia. It is with the Virginia Wind Symphony that Stephen was invited to play in the prestigious Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois in 2003 and also at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2005. Stephen currently teaches for Norfolk Public Schools as the band director for Granby High School. Stephen has been nominated twice for Norfolk Public School's Inspiration Award and was fortunate to take home this award in his first year of teaching at Granby High School in 2004. The Granby Marching Band, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble have all received numerous awards, recognition, and ratings under the direction of Stephen Clendenin. Stephen currently resides in Norfolk, Va with his wife Cameron who teaches at Lake Taylor High School and their first daughter Noelle who was born in March 2009.
