| About Me | Hi - Life is funny with the sands of time. After Lake Shore High, I went to Michigan Tech in Houghton, MI. Tried to make the hockey team, but those Canadians were good so I washed out, and became an Electrical Engineer. When I went to Tech, I never went back to St. Clair Shores, even for summers. I stayed at Tech one summer, worked at Yellowstone Park once, and interned at Allen Bradley in Milwaukee. When I graduated, I took a job with GE in Technical Marketing to see the world. They had me in New York City (I lived in New Jersey and Connecticut then), Boston, and Schenectady in upstate New York. I was having a ball, traveling the world, and married the gal I met during my New Jersey stop 39 years ago. Maggie was (and is) full of life, great values, great family, is an RN, and she wanted to see the world too. Laura, came along in 79 so I took a GE job in Seattle to get out of the heavy travel. We stayed there during the 80s, Allan joined us in 84, and Julia 89. I went weekends to University of Washington and got an MBA. Then reorganizations, etc, and Allan had tons of medical problems, he’s autistic with some tough disabilities, and I took a job with GE in New Orleans moving down in 91. The 35 GE years were with Power, Aircraft Engine, Electrical Apparatus, and the last 13 years in GE Medical. It was a good run. With personnel changes, and reorganizations, they gave me an offer to retire early. It took about three seconds to decide to go. Maggie has not retired from Nursing so I am working real hard cooking, cleaning, making beds, doing the dishes, and lawn so she thinks working is fun. Laura and husband Lee Pahmiyer have 7 year old Allan and 5 year old Audrey, live and work in Waco, TX where she settled after graduating from Baylor. Allan lives in Alexandria, LA and works at the group home where he lives. Julia graduated May 2012 in mechanical engineering at Baylor, and headed to a job with Praxair in St. Paul, and now is in Chicago. Life is good. I golf (we have a wonderful home near two courses), we visit kids and grandkids, fool around with my Model A Ford, we travel a bit, go on mission trips, and I referee football, basketball, and umpire baseball and softball. That’s the quick 44 years since high school. I do recommend retirement. No alarm clock and no cell phone. My vices are my PC, and beer. Reffing basketball helped me lose 30 lbs last winter.
