About | Lydia Jeanne Rener June 12, 1944 - January 5, 2017 LYDIA JEANNE RENER LOVING WIFE, MOTHER, SISTER & FRIEND Jeanne Rener dedicated her life to her family and her career teaching children, while pursuing her passions for travel, music and the outdoors. Throughout her life her friends and family benefitted from her glowing smile, cheerful demeanor, adventurous spirit and interest in the world. Jeanne passed away peacefully at Troy Beaumont hospital on January 5th, 2017 having led a full, loving and courageous life. Jeanne was born on June 12th, 1944 in Clarksville, Tennessee to Eugene and Bobbie Marsack. She graduated from Annunciation High School in Detroit in 1962. Jeanne attended Wayne State University earning a Master's degree in education and a Juris Doctorate from the Detroit College of Law. Professionally, she loved teaching, which she did for over 33 years in the Lakeshore School District. Outside of work Jeanne loved traveling, whether it was with her son, Matthew, all around the U.S. in her camper during her summer vacations from teaching or later with her husband, Michael, to over 30 countries in Europe, the Caribbean, South America and Asia. She devoted her other free time to continuing education in music and art, teaching piano, and enjoying outdoor activities like bike-riding and hiking. Jeanne was the devoted wife of her husband, Michael; the beloved mother of Matthew Serafin (Erika) and her late son Andrew Serafin; cherished sister of Robert Marsack. Godmother & cousin to Charmaine Marsack. Jeanne supported a number of charities, including Unicef and Gleaners. Her faith was very important to her, and she regularly attended and was involved in church activities at St. Anastasia Roman Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 13th, 2017 at 9:30 am at St. Anastasia Catholic Church located at 4571 John R Rd, Troy MI. Family will receive friends at A.J. Desmond and Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd., Troy (between Maple and Big Beaver Roads) on Saturday, January 14th, 2017 from 2-6pm.
