About Me | "After graduation went to McNeese off and on long enough to get two years under my belt. Then joined the USAF in March of '59. The Air Force sent me to Denver to the longest electronic school they had, at that time. Spent 36 weeks in Fundamental Electronics, followed by 16 weeks of Advanced Electronics, specializing in a particular radar system. Following graduation from those schools, the Air Force decided I should be an Instructor, so I attended the instructor school for 8 weeks. then went back to the Fundamental Electronics school and taught there for 5 years. Denver back then was a big city with a western attitude..I just loved it there. In July of '60 I married a Lagrange graduate, class of '59, one Marian Fuselier. Over the years we had two children and moved around the country at the whim of the USAF. We spent 5 years in Denver, then I went to Goose Bay, Labrador while Marian and the kids lived in Lake Charles. Then we moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota for 4 1/2 years. In late '69, I retrained and became a Gunner, a crew member flying in B-52s. That got us assigned to Blytheville, Arkansas for three years. I spent most of that three years overseas flying missions over Southeast Asia..(how do you spell "Viet Nam"?) followed by a move to Spokane Washington. Stayed in Spokane for nearly seven years and retired from the Air Force as a Master Sargent with just over 20 years of service. Prior to retirement Marian and I divorced in '78 and went our separate ways. I met and married a sweet lady in Spokane and in '80 we moved to Lake Charles, where I flew as an Instructor/ Charter Pilot for Mc Fillen Air Park. I quit flying for hire and worked at the Firestone plant for a little over a year . I was offered a job in Alaska and within 48 hours we were up there. We stayed in Alaska for 25 years. I worked until '93 for ARCO then retired and went to work for the University of Alaska as an Adjunct professor, teaching Hazardous Materials Spill Response and also Industrial Health and Safety..( Read that as OSHA training.), as well as Petroleum Production Technology. Finally quit work in 2000 and Ellen and I sold our home, bought a diesel pickup and a 5th wheel trailer and hit the road. We traveled all over the US, drove the AlCan Highway 9 times and finally found "our little piece of Heaven" in Milton Freewater, Oregon. we have 7 acres, with a major branch of the Walla Walla River flowing right through the property. We have been married for 35 years now and life is GOOD !!! Our kids are scattered from Coast to Coast. My son is in the D.C. area, my daughter is in the Dallas area and Ellen's son is in southern California. Between the three of them they have provided 7 granddaughters. The oldest is a Junior at Oklahoma, and two more are ready to start collage.....damn, i must be getting old..... As an old friend once said...."Don't worry about old age, because it ain't gonna last that long." Well, they also say only the good die yo...(read more) |
