Class of 1970

i have so many thoughts going through my mind right now, it's hard to put them in order. sometimes i think that me thinks too much. i'm old, i'm old, fat, crippled, handicapped, disabled, just fill in the blank, folks. yet i'm still vertical and ventilating, thank the good Lord. and i still have my mind, much to the chagrin of many people. lol
i retired in 2014 and did a couple of road trips. by 2015. i couldn't even fly the 2 hours to houston. by 2016, the long trips were out of the question. but that's ok, there are emails and phones to keep in touch with family and friends.
family and friends; the best gift God can give us.
2013 was a hard year for me. besides losing several good friends, i lost my mom, and then 54 days later, lost my older brother. whew!!
now, if you're not bored enough by now let's fast forward to this year. i've lost another 4 friends, not to mention fellow classmates. and covid-19 hit big time. before retiring, i work over 30 years with the coronavirus, albeit in animals. i know what it can do. but never in my wildest imagination did i ever think it would hit humans in this manner. so, please, PLEASE stay safe out there!
since we are getting older, i broke down, despite the pain, and shuffled off to our 49th reunion. i was really looking forward to our 50th when covid reared its ugly head and spoiled it all for us. however, i hope i'm still above ground for the next class reunion, whenever that will be.
so, i'm asking very nicely, that if at all possible, please attend. you never know what's in store for you down the road. people who were not in my group of friends came up and hugged me, and you know what? a hug from someone you haven't seen in almost 50 years feels pretty damn good!
and whenever we get to have it, i would love to tell you hello and give you a hug.
stay safe, keep well, and lots of love 'n hugs. :-)
