| About Me | October 16, 2011, John Fischle was elected Senor San Juan for the 54th Swallows Day Parade in San Juan Capistrano. The parade took place March 24, 2012. John has been active with the parade for the past 10 years. this year as Senor San Juan, he represents the city of San Juan Capistrano at ribbon cuttings, grand openings, summer concerts in the park and as a greeter at Mission San Juan Capistrano. Whether he is dressed in black-and-white cowboy duds, sporting his chaps, cracking his whip, shooting his pistol or throwing his lasso, you can find him about any weekend strolling the streets of San Juan. He also enjoys being an 1880s re-enactor with SPURS & SATIN, an award-winning western groups of gunslingers, cowboys and fancy ladies. The best part of being Senor San Juan has been making John's corgi, GUS, the unofficial Deputy Dog of San Juan Capistrano! Gus was a homeless dog that John saw several times as he drove to work. Gus' story is quite heart-wrenching. Gus was rescued by John and is now living quite the life as a cowboy's dog. Gus was also in the Parade wearing his black leather vest, Deputy badge and his two ivory-handled pistols. John continues to teach in Dana Point and is looking forward to retiring in the next few years. Also, this past February, he was awarded his 40-year membership pin from the Elks. He also enjoys mountain biking and, of course, surfing at Doheny with a good south swell.
