Ron was born to Dan and Gladys (Dunlap) Melhase June 2, 1946, in Klamath Falls, Ore., in Klamath Valley Hospital. He was the last surviving member of the pioneer Melhase family residing in Klamath County. Both his father and mother died while Ron was attending school, and he later lived with aunt and uncle Edna and Paul Robertson while he completed his education. Ron graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1964. He later spent two years with the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam. After leaving the Navy, Ron had a variety of jobs and small business ventures before becoming an industrial electrician. He worked for a variety of companies before retiring from Adams Rite Quadra Stat in Pomona, Calif. He was an accomplished woodworker and was a skilled craftsman of the scroll saw as seen in the many ornate clocks, tables, shelves, plaques and other items that decorate his home. Ron was also an avid fisherman and loved to shoot at the Sportsman's Park in Keno, Ore.and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at Klamath Memorial Park.
