About Me	College: BS Ed. Western Carolina University (Miss Western Carolina University 1988, little sister to Pike fraternity, Outstanding Prospective Teacher Award) 1992 - Master's Degree from USC (Elementary Education) 1995 - Educational Specialist in Elementary Guidance and Counseling (USC) 1998- Doctorate (Ed.D.) Curriculum and Instruction (USC) 1994 - One of 5 winners from the United States (winner from SC) for Revlon's Unforgettable Woman Contest. My husband entered me in this thing. I earned $10,000 and a lovely trip to New York City. Met lots of great people! From 1990-1995 - Taught in elementary setting 1995-1999 - Elementary School Guidance Counselor for two elementary schools 2000 - Earned Delta Kappa Gamma International Disseration Award (for the 1998-2000 biennium) for my doctoral research. Got to present my research at an international confernence in Toronto! 1999-2000 Worked as a Master Teacher with SC State Dept. of Education 2000-2004 Principal at Corinth Elementary School (Gaffney, SC). I loved this school (around 400 students). 2004-2005 - Served as principal at West View Elementary School in Spartanburg School District Six. September 22, 2004 - Gave birth to my daughter, Corbin Alexandra Hinton (9 pounds)! She was a wonderful and much prayed for gift from God! At the end of the 2004-2005 school year, I resigned my position as principal to spend time with my baby. 2006-2009 Professor of Education and Director of USC Upstate Teaching Fellows Program (USC Upstate) Currently (since August, 2009), working for SC State Department of Education Turnaround Initiative. I actually get to meet with our state superintendent, Dr. Jim Rex, from time-to-time.
