Mark was born on January the 21st in 1965. I met him on my first day at school and we immediately became BEST FRIENDS. Our friendship only grew stronger through the years we attended Kickapoo but as so many people do after graduating from school, we lost contact for a while after I joined the Army.
Mark had joined the Air Force, shortly after I left for Basic Training, and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
I happened to be back in Springfield, MO when I got the news – Mark had passed away. He was 22 years old.
I will forever remember that day – I was on the way to celebrate my birthday with my mom.
