6 Years Later, Self-Published on Amazon-- the E-Book Phenomenon

Hello Everyone!

I'd like to share my exciting news with you. My name is Heather Heffner, a Kentlake graduate of 2006. Since then, I went on to college at Western Washington University, graduated with a BA in English, and traveled to Toegyewon, South Korea, to teach English for a year.

While in South Korea, I wrote the first book in an urban fantasy series called YEAR OF THE WOLF. Recommended for adults only, YEAR OF THE WOLF is about a young American girl's entanglements with love, legend, and the supernatural in the neon-lit streets of Seoul, South Korea.

This was a journey in self-publication through Amazon, and the book is now available on all Kindle reading devices, as well as the free Kindle application for iPhone and iPad. So far the relationship with Amazon has worked out extremely well, and provides a publishing option for writers who've faced constant rejection/had their gripes with the traditional publishing world.

It also provides the opportunity for writers to become self-reliant in designing, formatting, and marketing their books in a new medium beyond the typical print book-- the E-book. What this means for the publishing world in the future, we'll have to watch unfold! In the meantime, I'm quite pleased to be able to publish a story that speaks to a niche audience and features a culture not typically seen in the Western-European dominated fantasy market.
