Alan Thurston
Alan Thurston
Class of 1966
Air Force, 20+ Years

Alan retired October 1989 after serving 21 years in the USAF. He was a jet engine technician his first 11 years in the military serving in 3 foreign countries during his tenure in the Air Force. His last 10 years was spent as a Information Technician serving under the wing commander. His last assignment was spent at Andrews AFB, in Maryland. In this careerfield he worked with many newspaper and television station media reps. The one outstanding media person that everyone would recognize was from the White House, Sam Donaldson. Alan was an escort for all news media reps that entered Andrews AFB and saw many heads of state entering the United States to visit the President. He was an escort for media upon President Reagans return from his Summit Talks during the Reagan Administration. He also was at many of President Bush's departures and return flights into the base. He says that Andrews AFB was quite an interesting place to be with many highly visible Heads of State traveling through.
