About	Gary Pike was an amazing young man. His musical abilities were outstanding, he was active in the fine arts, a member of the cross country team, an honor student, but most importantly he was a wonderful friend and caring person. He was diagnosed with cancer during the summer of 1989 and fought his battle with a brave smile on his face, while still trying to take local college courses. As one of my closest friends, I think of him often and miss him dearly. We were all so young when he passed away, and none of us really understood what he was going through while we all went away to colleges and continued with our lives as he never complained...always eager to have fun and try to keep up with the rest of us. I admire him greatly, as do many of the class of 1989, and thought he should be registered with the alumni webiste. Sincerely, Jennifer Pettit (Martel) Class of 1989
