About	Barbara Jean (Schoff) MacCormack, 77 of Sanford passed peacefully on Monday evening September 27, 2021, at The Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, surrounded by her family. She was born the oldest of seven on May 8, 1944 in New London, Connecticut to Edwin & Annabella (Rennie) Schoff. She grew up in West Kennebunk and attended Kennebunk High School. After high school, she graduated from Cambridge School of Business in Boston. Barbara worked her entire life in the legal field and loved it. She was employed by Bergen & Parkinson in Kennebunk for the past 22 years. The friends whom she worked beside brought her so much joy everyday. Her family was everything to her, and she was “Nana” to all. She loved crocheting and welcomed all the babies into the family with beautiful blankets, sweaters and hats. Her happy place was around the table with loved ones, a strong cup of black coffee and lots of laughter. Her faith was strong and was the anchor of her life. She spent years teaching Sunday School and various Bible classes to young people. The gift of encouragement was her strength. Not one for the spotlight, she supported and cheered everyone on from behind the scenes, through handwritten cards, fervent prayers and unmatched generosity. She was always up for a fun prank or a practical joke. In addition to her parents, her brother Wayne Schoff and two sisters Laura Atkinson and Sandra Merrill predecease her. She is survived by her son Peter and his wife Dianne MacCormack of Sanford; three daughters, Pamela and her husband John Palmitessa of Alfred, Polly and her husband Gerald Hubbard of Sanford, Peggy, and her husband Abraham Vreeland of North Berwick; two brothers Steven Schoff, Sr. of Lyman, and Allen Schoff of Arundel; one sister, Sara Merando of Cornwall on Hudson, NY; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren to carry on her legacy.
