About	Popular Scenic Designer Cary Speier Dies By WKBW Directors July 9, 2010Updated Jan 27, 2010 at 6:38 PM EDT BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- Acclaimed scenic designer Cary Speier has died after a brave battle with a rare cancer of the appendix. Much of Speier's work was seen in the area including at the downtown ball park, the annual March of Dimes galas, shopping malls, trade shows and at hundreds of weddings and parties. Cary and his team at Speier Displays and Party Rentals also created the scenic design for the annual Variety Kids Telethon, The WKBW Child Fair and Expo from 1995 through 2004, and many Channel 7 specials and AM/BUFFALO programs. Speier was recently featured in an Eyewitness News story after donating a number of decorations to Roswell Park. Hundreds of friends and family gathered at the Temple Beth Zion Wednesday for a 10am funeral, where pins were distributed with the word "inSPEIERed" printed on it as an expression for others to continue Cary's positive outlook.
