About | JOANN FIK, ACTIVE IN GIRL SCOUTS, CHURCH JoAnn Fik, a longtime Kenmore resident who was active in Girl Scouts and her church, died Sunday May 28, 1995 in her home after a long battle with cancer. She was 48. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Roger; a daughter, Andra Fik Jansen; and her mother, Josephine Nashek. A third-generation Kenmore resident, Mrs. Fik graduated from Kenmore West High School in 1964. She was one of the first women to graduate from the mechanical technology program at the State College of Agriculture & Technology at Alfred 1966. She worked as a draftsman for Carborundum Co. in Niagara Falls and later for the Erie County Highway Department. Her most recent job was library clerk for the Kenmore-Tonawanda schools. She was an active volunteer at St. Paul's Church and its school. She served as school librarian for several years. She was an assistant leader of Girl Scout Troop 4. |
Events | A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul's Catholic Church, Delaware Avenue and Victoria Boulevard, Kenmore. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. Buffalo News, The (NY) - Wednesday, May 31, 1995 |
