About William G. Hamister, 54, of Albuquerque, N.M., a former Buffalo-area resident, died Sunday (June 24, 2001) in Presbyterian Hospital of Albuquerque after a long illness.
Surviving are his parents, George E. and Jane H. of the Town of Tonawanda; three brothers, Robert A. of Syracuse, Mark E. of Clarence and Brian J. of Grand Island; and a close friend, Avi Kreichman of Albuquerque.
Born in Buffalo, he was a 1964 graduate of Kenmore West High School and graduated with honors from the University at Buffalo. He earned his master's degree in business administration from Columbia University and took additional studies at Bernard Baruch Business School.
Known as a spiritual person, devoted to friends and family, he was a member of the Passionist Order of the Catholic Church for four years after graduating from UB.
He later taught the classics at Grace Episcopal Church School in New York City, was director of computer technology from Rockefeller Hospital in New York City and business office manager for the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta for 15 years. He had lived in Albuquerque for nearly three years.
