Christ Gaetanos Obituary
CHRIST GAETANOS, 66, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2020 in his home in North Tonawanda, NY. He was born in Weisbaden, Germany on November 27, 1953 to the late George Gaetanos and Argerolla (Julia) Lemonis.

Christ was the loving father of three children, George Nicholas (Christina Francis) Gaetanos, Benjamin Nelson (Steven C. Smith) Gaetanos and Julia Cleone Yohe; dear friend and former husband of Dianna Civello; cherished grandfather or “Pappou” to Piper Avery and Vivienne Harlow Gaetanos, and Hudson Smith-Gaetanos; he was beloved by his aunts, uncles and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.
Christ was a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Law, the University at Buffalo and Kenmore West High School, where his speed and agility on the Blue Devils Football Team was effectively utilized in the radar defense designed by Coach Jules Yakapovich.
Immediately following Law School, Christ was selected for a federal clerkship under the Honorable Robert Jackson Staker, United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. An accomplished attorney and former professor of Business Law, Christ had recently returned to Western New York to join Modern Corporation as in-house legal counsel, where he worked very closely with the management team on acquisitions and strategic growth. A tireless worker who loved what he did and did it with extreme passion, Christ was revered for his keen intellect, work ethic and expert knowledge of Corporate and Tax Law. Colleague and long-time friend Bruce Zgoda, CPA, remembers him with great admiration as a “soft spoken man of integrity who used his intelligence to speak loudly for what was right.”

Former President of the Parish Council at the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, Christ was fiercely proud of his Greek heritage and traveled to Greece many times with family. A voracious reader and prolific writer, his intellectual curiosity was insatiable. Christ offered compliments with refreshing sincerity. He will be remembered for his genuine laugh, commitment to the Buffalo Bills, and enthusiastic love of Ted’s Hot Dogs. He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends.

For the safety of all of Christ’s family and friends, a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Please share memories and condolences online at www.AMIGONE.com
