free kid friendly fest/fair
This is a massive family friendly free event. Thousands attend this event and it keeps getting bigger and better every year! This year it will be held on Saturday October 11th, 2014 from 2pm-10pm at Hardesty Park in Akron. There will be TV's Big Chuck and Little John judging a pizza eating and costume contest. There will be 10 bands, 3 dance groups, fire performers, jugglers, clowns, hay and train rides, kids games, Halloween movies on an outdoor screen, vendors, The Dukes of Hazzard car, Andy Griffith and Batmobile cars, classic cars, A Dark Shadows, Star Trek and model airplane clubs. Speaking of clubs we have our Summit county 4-H club, Boy scouts, cub scouts, John Addams the drummer from our Cleveland Indian's the Scottish American games , DJ's, NEO Roller Derby Girls and much much more. This years event has moved to Hardesty Park where we will have 150 cornstalks, bales of hay and decorations covering the area. We are always looking for vendors, clubs, classic cars, unique performers and costume characters.
We already have Origami Owl, Paparazzi Jewelry, Thirty-One, Tastefully Simple, SABA, Premier Designs, Tupperware, and Scentsy. Pending reservations are Cookie Lee Jewelry, Avon, Pink Zebra and Perfectly Posh. BEGGAR'S NIGHT FOR THE CITY OF AKRON
Beggar's Night for the City of Akron is slated for Sat. Oct. 26 from 5-7pm. As always though individual neighborhoods can schedule a different time if they so choose.
Also there is a Halloween Parade sponsored by the Kenmore Community Council each year. It is scheduled Oct. 24 at 6pm. Starts at Shadyside on Kenmore Blvd. and they parade up to the high school.
