Augusto Ramirez
Class of 1998
Marine Corps, 10 Years
Augusto Ramirez joined the US Marine Corps straight out of high school, back in July of 1998. He enlisted as a Private First Class. He worked hard to earn his Baccaulerate in order to become an Officer. In 2003 he graduated from the University of Maryland University College with a BS in Information Systems Management and applied to become an Officer while still holding the rank of Sergeant. In 2004 he was selected and commissioned a Second Lieutenant. The soon to be Captain is a logistics Officer currently serving his second deployment to Iraq.

Augusto Ramirez joined the US Marine Corps straight out of high school, back in July of 1998. He enlisted as a Private First Class. He worked hard to earn his Baccaulerate in order to become an Officer. Worked for Navy at NAS Oceana in VF 103 which flew F4J Phantoms.Made two cruises aboard aircraft carrier USS Saratoga.Transferred to Air Force and worked on C5 aircraft at Stewart Airport in Newburgh NY.

Tom Melnick
Class of 1983
Air Force, 20+ Years
Retired June 17, 2016 after 30 years in the USAF. Deployed to Iraq in 2009, and three tours to Kabul, Afghanistan at the ISAF Joint Command (2010, 2012, 2013). Last tour was at Scott AFB, IL as the Senior Enlisted Advisor (CMSgt/E-9) at HQ Air Mobility Command. In my earlier days and years, I was a target intelligence analyst, as well as an All-Source Intelligence Analyst for a number of years. 30 years sounds like a long time, but it isn't when you're having fun. Thanks to all who have supported and continue to support the military, we definitely appreciate it.

Our Kearny High School military alumni are some of the most outstanding people we know and this page recognizes them and everything they have done!
