“ Joann Arrants, 76, of Kearney passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Father Paul Colling officiating. Interment will follow at Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services.
Joann G. Arrants was born August 19, 1943 in Kearney, Nebraska to Steve and Alberta (Long) Arrants. She was raised in the Amherst area and was a graduate of Kearney High School. Joann was a 35-year employee of Good Samaritan Hospital, serving several years as a surgical technician. Most recently, she was a foster grandparent with Head Start of Kearney.
Joann enjoyed spending time with her family, doing crossword puzzles, attending church with her dear friends, Rose and Tony Wathen, and spending her summers in Texas with her sister. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi since May of 1968. She also was a longtime member of the Kearney Eagle’s Club and Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jason (Kathy) Arrants; grandchildren, Madison (Harley) Huryta, Ashton Arrants, Alex Arrants and Haydon Arrants; great grandchildren, Cloe and Grayson Huryta all of Kearney; brothers, Don Arrants of Grand Island, Dwaine Arrants of Kearney and Leroy Hoss of Kearney; sister, Darlene (Larry) Hibberd of Argyle, TX; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents.”
