Sean Beighton (2007)

Olympic curling coach and former curler[10][11]

What is Sean Beighton (2007) known for?

Born in Edmonds, Washington on November 22, 1988, Sean Beighton is a skilled American curler and coach with a rich career history. He first began making waves in the curling world during his junior eligibility years, taking on the lead role as a skip. This saw him clinch the national junior championship in 2010, which led to him representing the United States at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships. Despite his team finishing in ninth place with a win-loss record of 1-8, it was a significant stride in his career.

Beighton's teamwork skills were further displayed in the 2011 United States Men's Curling Championship. Playing second under Jason Larway, they might not have topped the competition (settling for ninth place), but it was here that he earned the nickname 'Chester'. The following year, Beighton showed his versatility by winning the national mixed championship.

Continuing his impressive career trajectory, Beighton won his first national championship title in his role as third for Brady Clark. Not only was this a personal victory, but it also marked the first championship title for the Granite Curling Club since 2004. This accomplishment paved the way for Beighton and his team to represent the United States at the 2013 Ford World Men's Curling Championship. The team may have finished ninth with a 5-6 win-loss record, but their performance was enough to qualify them for participation in the 2014 United States Olympic Curling Trials.

Away from the curling rink, Beighton has found success as a software engineer, working for Amazon. However, his passion for curling didn’t fade with his transition into the tech industry. He now coaches for the John Shuster rink - a testament to his commitment to the sport.
