Lauren Perdue, born on June 25, 1991, in Charlottesville, Virginia, is an American competitive swimmer who specializes in freestyle events. Notably, she is an alumna of the J. H. Rose High School in Greenville, North Carolina. During her early years, she made significant achievements in swimming under the Greenville Swim Club from 1999 to 2009, winning her first championship in the 200-meter freestyle at the 2009 USA Swimming Long Course Junior National Championships.

Perdue's swimming prowess continued to shine through her university years at the University of Virginia, where she swam for the Virginia Cavaliers swimming and diving team from 2009 to 2012. As a Cavalier swimmer, she won nineteen Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) championships, received sixteen All-American honors, and was named the ACC Swimmer of the Year and ACC Swimmer of the Championships in 2010, 2011, and 2013. Despite a significant setback when she broke her back in 2012, Lauren made a remarkable recovery after back surgery, and just three months later, she participated in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials.

At the 2012 United States Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska, she proved her mettle by finishing fourth place in the 200-meter freestyle, securing a spot on the U.S. relay team in the 4×200-meter freestyle event. Her crowning achievement came at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where she earned a gold medal as a member of the winning U.S. team in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay. Lauren swam for the U.S team in the preliminary heats of the event.
