What is Jonathan Williams known for?

Jonathan Edward Williams, born on August 21, 1988, in Smithfield, North Carolina, is a former American football running back who is notably an alumni of Junius H. Rose High School in Greenville, North Carolina. His high school years were highlighted by an impressive contribution to the school's football team, the Rampants, as he helped complete back-to-back 16-0 seasons, winning the Class 4A State Championships in both junior and senior years. Williams earned all-conference and all-area honors in 2005 and 2006 and was a third-team All-America selection as a senior by EA Sports.

After a successful high school career, he went on to play college football at East Carolina University, amassing 1,415 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns.

Williams' professional career in football began when he was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2011, after going undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft. However, his time with the Bengals was short-lived, as he was released later that year. He then went on to explore opportunities in the Canadian Football League (CFL). In 2013, he joined the Calgary Stampeders, only to be released later in the year.

In 2014, Williams was signed to the Ottawa Redblacks' practice roster. He was later promoted to the active roster and even earned the CFL Offensive Player of the Week for Week 15 of the 2014 CFL season. This was in recognition of his outstanding performance of recording 180 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, and two receptions for 49 yards. Following the 2014 season, Williams became a free agent.
