Wendy Davis

Born on June 30, 1966, in Joppatowne, Maryland, Wendy Davis is a renowned American actress who kickstarted her career in the entertainment industry in 1980. Wendy is a proud alumna of Joppatowne High School, who later graduated with a Theatre degree from Howard University. She is also a member of the illustrious Delta Sigma Theta sorority.

Over her long and illustrious career, Wendy has appeared in numerous television sitcoms and independent films. She started gaining recognition after her semi-regular appearance on the 1991 sitcom "The New WKRP in Cincinnati," and subsequently guest-starred on popular TV shows like "Martin," "The Sinbad Show," and "Coach." From 1996 to 1997, Wendy portrayed the character Lynette White in the ABC police drama "High Incident," created by famed director Steven Spielberg. In addition to these, she has also made guest appearances on episodes of well-known series such as "Any Day Now," "Angel," "Cold Case," and "Grey's Anatomy."

Wendy is probably best known for her role as Colonel Joan Burton in the Lifetime television drama series "Army Wives" (2007–2013). For her brilliant portrayal of the character, she received three NAACP Image Award nominations for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series. Further amplifying her reputation, she had a recurring role as Kimberly Mitchell in the second season of the ABC drama series "Scandal," created by Shonda Rhimes.

Her talent was noticed by the Oprah Winfrey Network in 2018, when she was cast in a series regular role in the comedy-drama series "Love Is," created and produced by Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil. However, the series was canceled after one season amid allegations against Salim Akil.

Outside of her acting career, Wendy is a mother to a daughter who lives with her in Los Angeles, California. In her personal life, Wendy has used her experiences growing up with ADHD to help both parents of children with ADHD and adults living with the condition, contributing to a series of nine short videos on the subject.
