fred carter became the highest ranking guardsman in arkansas in 1984. A.G. he served the post untill his death in may 1986. he died of an illness contracted on manuvers in honduras in febuary of that year.

I joined the USAF July 5, 1967 following graduation from ASU. Served 7 1/2 years. Mather AFB, CA, Castle AFB, CA, Wurtsmith AFB, MI & Blytheville AFB, AR as a B-52 Radar Navigator/Bombardier including time over Vietnam, Laos, & Cambodia.
Discharged Feb 1, '75, to attend Asbury Theo Seminary in Wilmore, KY. Graduated from seminary May 78. Aug 79 began 18-year tour as Navy Chaplain with duty in Norfolk & Portsmouth, VA; Sigonella, Sicily, IT, Athens, GA; Gulfport, MS; Beeville, TX; & San Diego, CA. Preformed religious service aboard over 40 ships and subs. Between the AF an USN I visited every continent but 1 and don't want to go there. I retired Aug 1, 1997 as a CDR, CHC, USN.

Commissioned at ASU in 1978 into Air Defense Artillery, switched to Army Aviation in 1982. Flew UH-1H Hueys, OH-58 Kiwoas, AH-1S Cobras, and CH-47 Chinooks. Tours in Germany, Korea, 82d Abn Div; XVIII Abn Corps; Pentagon; taught ROTC at the University of Missouri.
