About Me | LOVIN' MY LITTLE BOYS AND MY BIG BOY! I like old friends, old music, old people and old cars. My son says I'm "Stuck in the Past Lane". I like people who say what they mean and mean what they say. If my children learn these following things from me and nothing else...I will have done the job I wanted to do. I want my children to know these things above all else: 1 ) DON'T JUDGE PEOPLE**** EMBRACE THEIR DIFFERENCES --- Whether it be differences of hair color, skin color, gender, intellect, political preference, sexual preference, social status, size, opinion or something else....Don't avoid people who are different. And NEVER make fun of or ridicule someone because they are different from you or what you know. This just shows ignorance. I promise you that if you limit yourself and your experiences in this way, you will lose out on some of the best experiences and best friendships you will ever have in life. Remember that you are no better than anyone else, and no one else is better than you. Everyone has a story. If you take time to hear them and learn what their life is and has been like, you will most likely understand them better and understand their actions (and/or reactions) a little better. 3) GO YOUR OWN WAY and do your own thing. Don't follow the crowd. Don't be embarrassed or afraid to refrain from doing something you feel in your heart is not right. Don't be afraid to stand your ground, even if you're alone in doing so. You won't be alone for long. You will possibly even give others the courage to take a stand as well. 4) EXPERIENCE LIFE. Take every opportunity to try new things, meet new people or learn about something you know nothing about...try new foods, listen to a different kind of music, grow your hair long or get a buzz cut, get a different brand of toothpaste...doesn't have to be a big thing, just something you've never tried before. 5) When faced with tough decisions, remember to TALK TO GOD about it. Most every time you will already know the answer if you look within yourself. Don't forget to talk to Him about the good stuff too. 6)NEVER NEVER EVER BE A BULLY!!!! And a few final thoughts...these things will help you accomplish the big ones above. *Always stop whatever you are doing to talk with an elderly person. It will make their day ....and yours. They have a lot of interesting stories to tell, about things you have never seen and things you will never ever see.... And some pretty good advice as well. *Be gentlemen...Help little old ladies across the street and help pregnant women with their groceries. Always say please, thank you, excuse me.... and tell your grannies and nanas that no one else in the world makes a grilled cheese like they do. * Don't start any shit, but take up for youself if someone else starts it. *Read the Christmas story on Christmas morning before you open your presents. *Know that in #4 above, when I said try new t...(read more) |
