In honor of Andrew Telesca Jr's birthday. It seems an appropriate time to tell you what we are doing in his honor. We have decided to partner with KOPERNIK Observatory & Science Center in Vestal NY. Andy volunteered there for many years, and some of the students he had actually work there now.
There is now an Andy Telesca Professional Development Program. This program is specifically aimed at Elementary School teachers to help them develop a new way of teaching Science and Engineering. As some of you know, Andy taught "Mathways to the Stars" for Susquehanna Schools, and was often seen with his telescope in the parking lots of the schools in JC. He worked on many programs in conjunction with SUNY Binghamton to help science teachers, so this seems entirely appropriate.
