Does anyone still remember the song, "The Mexican Desperado"
The song, "The Mexican Desperado" was a song from our old song books in the 1960-61 school year, fourth grade. I imagine it was known by the older students in high school who also sang it to me as a child while we were coming back from a football game. To the class of 1970
I was in the fourth grade at Mceachern Elementary in 1960-61. I remember I had Mrs. Adair for fourth grade. There was a student in the class named Janet. I don't recall her last name. I later heard from Mrs. Adair that Janet had died from a drowning accident when she was around fifteen years old. She was a part of my life. I will always remember her. lynn mayfieldga@bellsouth.net

Just a thank you to the band of 1960-61
I am not a former student, so I cannot log in properly. My aunt was a band director at the school, and I was there after my class waiting for my aunt. I have some wonderful memories from that time. I was trying to write them all a line of thanks for my experiences with them during the 1960-61 school year.
I was in the fourth grade at Mceachern High School during the 1960-61 school year. My aunt, Virginia Oliver was the band director that year. I remember coming home from a football game one night. The band members began playing the song from our elementary song book, ? I think "Mexican Desperado" or something like that. As a kid I though they were just singing it. Now I know they were singing it for me. I just wanted to say Thanks So Much, although a bit late.
So tell all the former band members at that time, I really loved their music; all the time I spent watching them in marching practice; and yes, I remember they got a "1" in contest that year. I also remember the wonderful sounds that came from that old wooden band room. Thanks so much to all of you who were there. You were wonderful.
