Favorite School Memory | Beating St. Aug 10-7 in the fotball playoffs in junior year. I caught 7 passes in that game and Spencer Smith kicked the winning field goal as we became the first public school to beat the Purple Knights. |
About Me | I married my high school sweetheart, Denise Mitchell-Deal and we had a wonderful daughter, Devonica, who I raised as a single parent after Denise's sudden passing in 1994. I went into the military and parlayed that experience into a walk-on opportunity at the best University in America (bar none)- U.C.L.A.!!! I came back to New Orleans where I joined the NOPD and became one of it's most celebrated detectives. As a Homicide Detective I was featured in many "cop shows", i.e., America's Most Wanted; Prime Suspect; Cold Case Files; French Quarters Connection; and "The Detectives". I was also the subject of many news specials (both local and nationally). I worked on every "major" homicide investigation in the city of New Orleans in my tenure on the department and had the opportunity to participate in all of the high-profile cases that rocked the city between the early 1980's and 2003 when I retired. By the time I retired I had been named "Police Officer of the Year" on two occasions and had been looked to as the most accomplished investigator to every don the "Star and Crescent". I was known to my peers as well as my adversaries as, "The Interrogator", for the skills that I learned at "The Mac" and honed at UCLA, of getting confessions in almost every case I handled. While on the department I re-married. This time to Andrea Skipper-Deal, a veteran employee of the NOPD herself. She has worked for some 25 years in the Communications Division. We have no kids together. After retiring I joined the staff of the District Attorney's Office as Chief Investigator where I continued to oversee cases brought forth by the NOPD as well as assisted in the courtroom prosecution of many of the suspects who were arrested after I retired. The results were the same..."Do the crime...". I have since retired from the position in the DA's Office to pursue a career as a consultant to law enforcement officers across the country. I have also dabbled in professional security undertakings for the New Orleans Hornets basketball team as well as basketball stars from other teams, who shared agents with my clients. With 30 years of law enforcement bakground and a personal trek that has taken me from Natchez, Mississippi to the projects of Chicago, Illinois, to the 7th and 9th wards of New Orleans, to the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles, and back to the city I call home I have decided that this story needs to be told, and thus, I have embarked upon the task of writing a ...(read more) |
