Lourenso Ramautar

Class of 1994

Lourenso Ramautar was born in New Amsterdam, Guyana in 1975. He moved to Queens, NY with his family in 1987 at the age of 12. He is a graduate of Parsons School of Design, class of 2000, with a degree in Photography. After graduating, he was hired as a product photographer for Macy’s catalog, where he worked for four years. In 2004, he published a book entitled Mask: the West Indian American Carnival the first photography book documenting the West Indian American carnival in the U.S. and Canada. In 2006, he began freelancing at Goldmark Studio where he shoots high end jewelry for catalogues and advertisements. In 2007 he launched Complexion Magazine which showcases the rich diversity in American fashion and music. Since 2009 he has worked as a fashion photographer with E-fashion Solutions where he shoots for companies including Playboy, DKNY, Lacoste, Ben Sherman, Sean John, Rockwear, Baby Phat, Dereon, and eBay Fashion Vault. His fine art work has been featured in museum exhibits including the Queens Museum of Art . Lourenso’s advertising photographs have been featured in numerous magazines including Vogue, GQ, Harper Bazaar, Hamptons Magazine and Martha Stewart Living. He launched his own photography studio, Out of NY, in October 2010.
