About Diane Baum of Levittown peacefully
passed away at her home on August 28,
2022, just short of her 78th birthday.
She was born in New York City and
spent her youth growing up in Jericho,
Long Island, NY. She received her
Bachelor degree from Hofstra
University, NY in 1965 and a Master's
degree from Long Island University in 1967 before starting her teaching
career as a history teacher at Smithtown School district on Long Island.
Smithtown School district on Long Island.
Married to her childhood sweetheart, Steven, she later became a stay-athome
mom, while she and her husband moved around the United States
and Europe while he was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. They settled down
in Pennsylvania in 1973 and have been residents here for almost 50 years.
When her children were teenagers, she reentered the work force and
became the first female car salesman for Pitcairn Oldsmobile and quickly
became their top sales person. When she and her husband built and
opened their business in Tullytown, PA, Diane began her very successful
career as owner/operator and salesperson of D & S Boat Sales and
Marina.
Diane loved meeting people and was very outgoing. She was active with
church activities, taught 2 Girl Scout troops, and was always volunteering
to help people in need. She loved to read, playing the piano, enjoyed
cooking and baking, spending time with all 3 grandchildren, and loved to
have dinner parties and entertain. She enjoyed listening to classical
music, but also loved to dance to music from the 50’s and 60’s. One of
the things she truly enjoyed the most was traveling and exploring new
places. She and her husband of 55 years enjoyed their world travels
which allowed her to relive all the history and travel novels she had read.
She is survived by her husband Steve and her two daughters, Victoria andKimberley, two son-in-law’s, Eric and Jeremy, and three grandchildren,Lauren, Jonathan, and Katelyn. She was energetic, articulate, accomplished, feisty, and well respected. She will be missed by all.
