About | Diane Baum of Levittown peacefully passed away at her home on August 28, 2022, just short of her 78th birthday. She was born in New York City and spent her youth growing up in Jericho, Long Island, NY. She received her Bachelor degree from Hofstra University, NY in 1965 and a Master's degree from Long Island University in 1967 before starting her teaching career as a history teacher at Smithtown School district on Long Island. Married to her childhood sweetheart, Steven, she later became a stay-athome mom, while she and her husband moved around the United States and Europe while he was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. They settled down in Pennsylvania in 1973 and have been residents here for almost 50 years. When her children were teenagers, she reentered the work force and became the first female car salesman for Pitcairn Oldsmobile and quickly became their top sales person. When she and her husband built and opened their business in Tullytown, PA, Diane began her very successful career as owner/operator and salesperson of D & S Boat Sales and Marina. Diane loved meeting people and was very outgoing. She was active with church activities, taught 2 Girl Scout troops, and was always volunteering to help people in need. She loved to read, playing the piano, enjoyed cooking and baking, spending time with all 3 grandchildren, and loved to have dinner parties and entertain. She enjoyed listening to classical music, but also loved to dance to music from the 50’s and 60’s. One of the things she truly enjoyed the most was traveling and exploring new places. She and her husband of 55 years enjoyed their world travels which allowed her to relive all the history and travel novels she had read. She is survived by her husband Steve and her two daughters, Victoria andKimberley, two son-in-law’s, Eric and Jeremy, and three grandchildren,Lauren, Jonathan, and Katelyn. She was energetic, articulate,accomplished, feisty, and well respected. She will be missed by all. |
