About Me | Bishop Lamont Tellis, Sr. Senior Pastor Portland Christian Life Center Jurisdictional Prelate of Oregon Second Jurisdiction (Church of God in Christ United) Bishop Tellis is the first born of the late Deacon Roosevelt Tellis, Jr. and Mother Ella D. Tellis. He received Christ the summer of 1958 and was licensed to preach in 1963. Bishop Tellis joined the Air Force after graduating from High School in 1964 and served in Southeast Asia with an intelligence unit and later assigned to a "fast reaction situation analysis team" at the Pentagon. The mission of this team was to keep the Air Force Chief of Staff, Secretary of Defense and the President of the United States informed on anything that affected national security. He retired from the Air Force in 1989 after 25 years of service. While stationed in various locations around the country, Bishop Tellis furthered his education by attending, Community College of the Air Force, Central Missouri State University, Creighton University, The University of Nebraska, Portland Community College, the University of Portland, Glendale University and Feltus Theological Seminary. He has a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration, Master of Science in Theology and Honorary Doctor of Theology. Bishop Tellis’s ministry spans a period of 50 years. He served as Assistant Youth Pastor, State Public Relations Director, Senior Pastor, District Superintendent, State Evangelist, State Executive Secretary, State Executive Board Member, Jurisdictional Bishop of California Southern COGICU (2001 – 2006), Regional Coordinator for Black Ministries, Regional Missions Board Member, Television host on the TBN network, current International Historian (COGICU), and is the COGICU Representative to over 150 churches in Kenya, Uganda, Pakistan, India and Liberia. In 2002 after merging the church he pastured for 24 years, Bishop Tellis relocated from Portland Oregon to Pasadena California. There he taught Aerospace Science and Leadership for the Los Angeles Unified School District. He also pioneered the Los Angeles Christian Life Center (Merged with Word of Truth Church COGICU, successfully, pastored by Bishop Reginald Givins Sr.). In 2007, Bishop Tellis retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District retuning to Oregon where he served under the late Bishop Artis L. Wright. He and his wife Barbara, later pioneered The Portland Christian Life Center in Portland Oregon, where he is the current Senior Pastor. In the year 2000 he was appointed, by the International Senior Bishop James Feltus, Jr. to preside over Oregon Second Jurisdiction COGICU. His past and current civic duties include: The first Commander of the Portland Inner-City Civil Air Patrol Squadron, Co-President of Blacks in Government Military Chapter, Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children (CASA), Crisis Response Team volunteer with the Portland Police Bureau, CEO of Visions Staffing Service, and a 1997 nominee for the President's Service Award. He is a member of the NAACP, lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, current Vice Chair of the Woodlawn Community Resource Center (WCRC), Jurisdictional Prelate of Oregon Second Jurisdiction (COGICU), President and founder of two online Bible schools: Cascadia Northwest Bible College and Tellis Bible Institute.
