Charlie was a left gunner on the B29 airplane. He was stationed on Tinian Island, which is one of the three Mariana Islands in the Pacific Ocean. He served for 2 years, 2 months, and 22 days. (Tinian Island is where the plane took off from carrying the first atomic bomb

I served 4 years in 1st Force Recon Co. in Camp Pendleton, CA. There i was a Field Radio Operator. I was Airborne and did a lot of special ops. The last 4 years i did a lateral move to be an Avioncis Technician on CH-53E Helicopters in HMH-466 in Miramar, CA i also was an Aerial Observer or Machine Gunner on the Aircraft.
