About Me | Dear Friends, We are collaboration between son and father. We share ideas, work together on our artwork, and bring it to the public’s attention for their enjoyment. I am the art photographer and mentor to my father. As for my father, he is my technician and a painter (although I also do a little painting myself). By working on our art pieces, we are able to enjoy life and try to overcome our disabilities. What I mean by trying to overcome our disabilities is that instead of constantly thinking of what brings us sorrow, we try to fully focus our attention on what bring us happiness. To us our work is a way of joining the main stream of society, sharing our world with theirs. I am a cancer survivor and my father has a broken back, but together we add up to a strong force. Ever since I was a little boy, I have always enjoyed studying dinosaurs and I still study them to this very day. My interest in dinosaurs quickly leads to my life-long fascination with the movie monsters, Godzilla and Gamera (the giant fire-breathing, flying turtle). When I began to experience early symptoms of my cancer in late 1995, I learned that, during that same time, Toho (the Japanese film studio that created Godzilla) had made a movie in which Godzilla dies. In my mind, I always wondered if it was merely a coincidence or something more. When Toho revived Godzilla in 1999, I felt that the movie monster and I had many things in common. In the films, Godzilla struggles in order to survive in a world where humanity and other adversaries try to destroy him. In the real world, I find myself doing that same thing (except that no one is trying to kill me). Quite often, I am told that I am not allowed to be in certain places just because of my disabilities. After a long struggle with rehab and education that still continues to this very day, I am able to create these imaginative mementoes that represent hope. I would like to thank all the artists, like Ansel Adams, Jerry Uelsman, professors, teachers and everyone else who inspirer us through our struggles to fit in w...(read more) |
