NEW MADISON HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING

On November 6, 2012, Houston voters passed a $1.89 billion bond to rebuild HISD schools; the largest and most historic construction effort in the history of the agency. While the district serves over 27% African American students,
only 2% of design fees awarded thus far have gone to local architectural firms owned solely by African Americans. No local black firms have even been invited to interview for the four black high schools that have been awarded. The next high school to be awarded will be Madison High School. The Houston Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects seeks your support in our efforts to increase awareness regarding HISD's failure to award contracts to locally owned African American Architecture firms on the $1.89 billion 2012 Bond Program.
