Keller Williams

One man jam band (class of 1988)

What is Keller Williams known for?

Born on February 4, 1970, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Keller Williams, fondly known as K-Dub or simply Keller, began exploring his passion for music early on in his life. As a James Monroe High School graduate of the class of 1988, he was already strumming the guitar during his teenage years. Keller Williams has since created a niche for himself in the music world as an American singer, songwriter and musician known for his unique blend of genres — from bluegrass, folk, and alternative rock to reggae, electronica/dance, jazz, and funk.

Often referred to as a 'one-man jam-band,' Williams is renowned for his live phrase looping with multiple instruments which creates an impressive soundscape for his listeners. Having earned a degree in theater from Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach, he moved to Colorado after college to further his musical career and diversify his range.

Although he is largely a solo artist, Williams has toured with bands like the Yonder Mountain String Band, The String Cheese Incident, Umphrey's McGee, and Ratdog. His love for music finds expression in multiple collaborations and performances at notable events like The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, the AllGood Music Festival, the Summer Camp Music Festival, The Rothbury Festival, and the Elysian Fields Music Festival.

He's also known for his collaborative project, 'Keller Williams Incident,' with The String Cheese Incident. This creative blend resulted in the 1999 album “Breathe”.

Williams has made numerous appearances playing alongside 'Moseley, Droll, and Sipe,' a group formed in 2007. This ensemble, which initially performed at the Bonnaroo music festival, includes Jeff Sipe on drums and Keith Moseley on bass, besides Williams himself handling the rhythm guitar.

Respecting his fans' love for his performances, Williams maintains a policy for the non-commercial trading of his performance recordings. However, the use of video or flash photography and any profit-oriented recordings are strictly prohibited.

From his teen years mastering the guitar to building a reputation as a renowned musician, Williams has undeniably left his mark on the world of music. His journey shows us how passion, dedication, and versatility can lead to unparalleled success.
