His first significant role in films was as Brad Hamilton in 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High', where he worked with notable actors such as Sean Penn, Phoebe Cates, Forest Whitaker, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Nicolas Cage.

Reinhold gained further recognition for his role as Detective Billy Rosewood in 'Beverly Hills Cop' (1984), co-starring with Eddie Murphy.
