I enlisted in the Navy Nuclear Power Program in November 1994 after spending about 6 months in the Delayed Entry Program. After earning the rank of Machinist's Mate 3rd Class and completing Nuclear Power School, I qualified as a Nuclear Mechanical Operator. It was during that time that I applied and was accepted to the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island. After completing NAPS, I completed 4 years at the US Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in English, and a commission as an Ensign (O-1) in the US Navy. I completed all of the Navy's Nuclear Power pipeline all over again, then completed a Junior Officer tour on the submarine USS Florida (SSGN 728). I left the navy in April of 2006.

Discharged after 3.5 years to go to college, then commissioned as an officer and served another 22 years before retiring in 2018. Now serve as a civilian with the Department of the Army. Pics are from basic training in 1988 and near the end of my career in 2016.
