Marlyne lived down the block from me in Briarwood. We were friends since we were 10. We were caught shoplifting on Jamaica Avenue when we were about 15. Good times! She was an Art Teacher at Van Wyck JHS where we were students. Very artistic - made various things on a loom. Retired and divorced with one daughter, Heather. Marlyne was very politically active and a good soul. She died two weeks after she had open heart surgery.
