About A Memorial Service for Mr. Joshua Cain Hill, 46, of Jacksonville, will be at 2 pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at West Side Baptist Church. Reverend Truman Norred, Pastor David Haynes, and David Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Hill passed away March 11, 2022 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Hill was born in Maine and relocated with his family to Jacksonville in 1992. He married his high school sweetheart and prom queen, Shannon, on January 18, 1994. Joshua was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a star basketball player at Jacksonville High School, and went on to play basketball at the University of Montevallo. Joshua was well known in Jacksonville for being one of the best PARD basketball coaches. He was always requested as a coach and really enjoyed teaching all of his sons and his teams. Joshua was also a carpenter in Jacksonville and his work can be seen throughout the city. His life was filled with music and laughter. Joshua was a philosopher, a craftsman, a coach, and musician. He will be remembered as a loving and most honorable son, husband, father, brother, and friend. Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jerry Vowell. He is survived by his wife, Shannon Vowell Hill; three sons; Rivan Debrerry Hill, Julian Wayne McMillian Hill, and Calvan Cain Hill; his parents, Russell and Karen Hill; his sisters, Jasmyne Codi Hill and Jade Carter Hill; his mother- and father-in-law, Debbie and Vern Eley; a sister- and brother-in-law, Chrissie Johnson and Jeremy Vowell; nieces and nephews, Juniper Leone Hicks, Ophelia Grey Williams, Thorin Russell McMath, Kelsey Johnson, Chase Johnson, Justin Nichols, and Austin Vowell; and numerous extended family and friends. He was followed in death by Hansel Hill, his brown eyed, brindle, black, bird dog. "Make friends and alliances, and spread the love."
