Can you possibly believe it! It has been 50 years since we last walked the hallowed halls of JM Weatherwax High School. So—it is time to have a BIG 50TH REUNION CELEBRATION! And do we have a big event planned, with more exciting surprises to be revealed in the coming months. For now, suffice it to be revealed that we will have the “really big shew” on Saturday night at the Aberdeen Elks (the old Nordic Inn on Boone Street in south Aberdeen). This venue will mean more open space for socialization, access to entertainment in the cocktail lounge consisting of dancing and karaoke, dinner in the larger lodge room, and quiet space for sitting and conversing with classmates. This benefits those who want more social and less entertainment while preserving the entertainment value for those who enjoy a party atmosphere. We can also utilize the Elks earlier for a gathering place to socialize and until a later hour for night-owls. There is plenty of parking around the building and it is basically level and handicap accessible for ease of access. In addition we have planned: • John Salick and LeRoy Silva have volunteered to organize and promote the car show which we can hold at the front entrance of the Elks parking lot. This allows everyone to view and participate in the car show. This was a big event at our 45th reunion and we hope this one is even bigger and better. • We organized a Golf event for 10am Saturday at the country club. $25 greens fee, $30 cart rental. Dress code (no t-shirts, no ads on shirts-- golf shirts & slacks/jeans OK) • We will also have a 50/50 raffle so some lucky attendee will profit from attending. • Patt Dewitt Matsen has located a professional photographer to document the event. Pictures will be available that night for pick-up! $10 for full class, $5 for grade schools • Sunday 9am-noon a no-host brunch buffet for our class will be at the Elks also. • Friday evening will be a social gathering to be announced. It’s an event you won’t want to miss. This icebreaker was a BIG hit at the 45th. Location announced later. Most important is we have your reservation NOW so we can proceed with plans and not have to make additional mailings (they cost class funds). Make your reservation and payment today because you know you want to attend; so do it now. Forty dollars ($40) per person makes this a weekend to remember. To make it less stressful for you, if you make your reservation now and in the future you find you can’t attend; we will fully refund your entire payment if you notify us before July 20th.
