About Event

During the 1971 - 1972 school year, Inglewood High School hired a group of African-American teachers. Mrs. Mary Reese Boykin was one of them. In the subsequent 40 years, there have been significant changes in the make up of the city. But a constant in that time has been Mrs. Boykin. Mrs. Boykin has had a determination to improve the lives of her students by helping them excel in the English/language arts skills. She understands that her students' command of language can either open doors or close them. After 40 years of outstanding service as an English teacher, Mrs. Boykin is retiring in June 2012. With a career that has touched the lives of thousands of individual students and their families, we invite you to join us on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at noon at The Proud Bird Restaurant to celebrate Mrs. Mary Reese Boykin's career at Inglewood High School.
