Entered initially into the California National Guard-1970 as a Armor Crewman. I requested to enter active duty(1974) US Army as a 91B Combat Medic(Medical Specialist).I have been trained as a Paramedic and have trained former medics and medical professional in trauma and in the capabilities of our enlisted medic.I have been at various sites, Ft Knox,Ky.,Ft. Hood and Ft. Sam Houston, Tx.Ft Polk,La.,Ft. Lewis, WA, Schofield Barracks,Hawaii, Ft. Riley, KS, Ft Benning, Ft. Rucker,Ala.,Ft Meade and Aberdeen Proving Ground,MD, Ft. Sill, OK, Ft.Leonard Wood, MO and Ft. Ord and Ft. Irwin, CA, just to mention a few in my career. I started out as enlisted and attained SFC(E-7) rank before being given a CW2 warrant officer rank as a Physician Assistant(PA). Due to militarychanges in rank structure, all PA were commissioned. I retired as a active duty CW2 but 1 LT in the US Army Reserve. I have various decorations but the best I have is seeing one of my combat medic that I have trained do his duty under the most terrible stress that is life-threatening in cases and go back into that zone without thought for his own well-being but his ability to save his fellow soldier.
