Paulina Angel
Class of 2001
Paulina Angel is someone who has been a success story. She began her educational career at Indio High School as Paul Angel Padilla. After graduation, she came out as transgender and since been one of the top leading LGBT Rights Activist in the state of California. Through her activist work, she became the first transgender to be elected to a senatorial position for the student organization, Student Senate for California Community Colleges, an organization that is based in Sacramento, which is run by the California Community College Chancellor's Office and The State of California. Her main focus was Equity and Diversity Issues, writing resolutions to make California Community Colleges a Safe Zone for LGBT Students. Her efforts also included working on projects for the Dream Act (AB540) and the Fair Education Act.
Currently, she serves as secretary for the SSCCC Spectrum Caucus, a student caucus that focuses on LGBT issues. When she is not working on LGBT Issues, she is hard at work recording music as Paul Angel, and as of October 11th, 2012, released her long-awaited debut album, ANGEL, featuring songs written both at Indio High School and her former college, College Of The Desert. Today, she is a college student in San Francisco, majoring in Gender Issues, Creative Writing and Minoring in Political Science and Psychology.

2009-2011 Student Senate For California Community Colleges (Region IX Secretary/ Region IX Senator/ Region IX Communications Officer/ Senator At Large)
2012 - Present SSCCC Spectrum Caucus (Region III Representative/Secretary)
